artist bio
As a free spirited, self-taught artist, Sarah Zamora began showing work and
participating in the DFW area art scene in 2010.  Her work has appeared at recent
gallery events across the Metroplex, and the vibrant, bold style of her mixed media
artwork leaves an impression.

Like many artists, Sarah has had a passion for the arts from a very young age.  Her
early years focused on creative performance in theater and music, but an
obsession for painting was fueled in 2003, and she hasn’t put down a paintbrush
since.  Sarah’s mixed media artwork draws from a sense of imagination and
exploration found within herself, and her work has sprung from the process of
discovery.

Sarah writes articles online for art techniques, as well as has a fan following on
Facebook, Twitter, etsy, and Youtube.  She relishes sharing with and inspiring
others to exercise their creative gifts.

She is a dedicated wife and passionate mother residing in N. Fort Worth, Texas.
You can catch her work each month in various galleries, exclusive boutiques, art
festivals and handmade indie art shows; check the
events page for upcoming
events.

artist statement
As a self-taught artist I rely on instincts, emotions, and whims to guide my work, and
therefore my inspiration is a combination of an active imagination, zany personality,
and a bit of manic energy.  The curiosity of new processes through personal
experimentation is a driving factor in my work; I constantly play with a variety of
media and subjects, discovering new techniques and figuring things out along the
way.

While I do paint some pieces in a more straightforward method using only acrylics, I’
ve created a unique method for mixed media that defines my style.  My current work
is in this combination of acrylics, various inks, mica pigments, watercolors, spray
paint, found papers and objects, and upcycled ephemera.  Each piece uses layers
of textures and paints to highlight or disguise common images and items, creating a
sense of discovery for the viewer.  I want the intrigue of my work to last beyond an
initial impression, for those engaged with the piece to see more and more hidden
with in the piece they closer they get to it.

The tone of my work is positive, universal, contemporary, thoughtful, funky, edgy,
colorful, and sometimes whimsical.

The body of my work at this time is split between two themes and color stories,
representing 2 sides of my life: civilized, muted suburban pieces and a series of
bold, vibrant urban styled pieces.
